Grocers fail cage-free egg pledge

« Back to Veterinarian

Most Canadian grocers are unlikely to meet their 2025 cage-free egg commitments, according to a report by Mercy For Animals. Despite pledging to source 100% cage-free eggs by 2025, no major retailer has fulfilled this promise. Eight companies, including Sobeys and Loblaws, received failing grades. Loblaws reported only 16% cage-free eggs, while Costco achieved 21.3% in Canada. Mercy For Animals urges these retailers to honor their commitments and transition to 100% cage-free eggs
