California lawmakers have passed Assembly Bill 519, which prohibits online pet dealer websites and brokers from selling dogs to consumers, aiming to combat the influx of puppies from out-of-state mills. Attorney General Rob Bonta supported the bill, emphasizing its role in protecting consumers and promoting humane treatment of animals. Two additional bills addressing pet sales are also expected to pass soon.
