Iowa veterinary professionals sanctioned for drug-related violations

Iowa Capital Dispatch reports on the cases of two Iowa veterinary professionals who have been sanctioned for drug-related violations. According to the Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine, veterinary technician Katherine Schwartz repeatedly stole prescription drugs, including codeine, Zorbium and hydrocodone, from the clinic where she worked. The board has not disclosed where the alleged thefts took place. Meanwhile, the board has now made public a case from April that involves Eric Smith, a veterinarian from the Farm & Family Veterinary Clinic in Brooklyn, Iowa, who was charged with four counts of alleged violations of local laws governing the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of drugs.
