The Northwest’s ‘dental care divide’ is becoming a crisis

Writing in The Seattle Times, Cindy Breilh, the executive director of U.S. Programs for Medical Teams International, a provider of dental services in the Pacific Northwest whose stated goal is to remove barriers to health and dental care and to go where it is needed most, says dental care is becoming a luxury that few can afford without dental insurance (or even with insurance, in some cases), and as such it is imperative that action is taken to increase access to vital dental services. She says the U.S. is facing a “neck up” health crisis that disproportionately affects low-income individuals and other marginalized populations.
